Projets biogaz - GNR Québec Capital

GNR Québec Capital targets projects that promote the circular economy and generate additional sources of revenue for farmers, municipalities and industry, while simultaneously accelerating decarbonization.

Organic matter, whose initial management is already regulated, can be treated to give it a second, more profitable life. Québec’s guidelines are encouraging this type of energy shift because of the 5.8 million tonnes of waste stored or incinerated each year in the province, over 60% is organic matter.

GNR Québec Capital invests in facilities that enable organic waste to be managed more profitably. Investments are made in three key sectors: agricultural, municipal and industrial. In doing so, GNR QUÉBEC CAPITAL is helping to build a sector whose potential is now beyond dispute:

Conclusive tests have been carried out by the Centre de recherche industrielle du Québec (Investissement Québec – CRIQ) showing that the biomethanation (anaerobic digestion) of biowaste is a promising avenue.

The Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques has set up a program for treating organic matter using biomethanation and composting.

The Québec Residual Materials Management Policy (PQGMR) promotes the recovery and reclamation of organic material.
