Projets municipaux - GNR Québec Capital

Waste management is a major challenge for municipalities. Organic waste makes up a large portion of all municipal waste, the bulk of which can be upgraded into renewable natural gas. This includes:

  • Residential organic waste
  • Municipal sludge (treatment plants, septic tanks, etc.)
  • ICI (industrial, commercial and institutional) organic waste

Biomethanation allows municipalities to :

  • Find a solution to overflowing landfills.
  • Diversify revenue streams by selling RNG to the distribution grid.
  • Lower landfill costs.
  • Reduce GHG and methane emissions.
  • Improve air quality (by using RNG as a transportation fuel).
  • Create jobs and develop promising partnerships.

By producing RNG, municipalities can meet the requirements of the Québec government, notably with regard to its Environmental Quality Act, 2030 Energy Policy and regulations on the management of organic matter, which the province has banned from landfills as of 2020.

GNR Québec Capital gives its partners access to the capital and consulting services they need to develop and operate efficient and profitable facilities.

RNG projects can be structured according to various delivery methods, depending on the respective degree of public-private equity stake and asset management. These delivery methods range from traditional (or conventional) to full privatization, including a whole range of alternative methods.

Choosing an appropriate delivery method is a crucial step for municipal projects. GNR Québec Capital can be involved in all delivery methods involving a private equity stake in the project. GNRQC is also able to support municipalities from project design through to plant commissioning.
